Practice Policies and Rates for Psychological Testing & Evaluation

Welcome to Neurodiversity Consultants, LLC. Below you will find important information about my evaluation process, fees, and practice policies. My goal is to provide a transparent, supportive, and neurodiversity-affirming experience for every client.

Psychological testing can provide valuable insights into cognitive, emotional, and behavioral functioning, helping to clarify diagnoses, guide treatment planning, and identify individual strengths and challenges. By deepening self-knowledge, assessment empowers individuals to make informed decisions, foster personal growth, and build a more fulfilling and meaningful life.

Evaluation Process

A comprehensive psychological evaluation typically involves three or more sessions:

  • Clinical Interview: The process begins with a face-to-face interview to review your history, current concerns, and the reason for your evaluation. This helps determine which tests are most appropriate for your needs.
  • Testing Sessions: I select a battery of psychological tests tailored to your referral question (e.g., ADHD, intellectual/cognitive functioning, autism, learning disability, mood or personality, emotional or behavioral functioning). Testing sessions usually require four to six hours for a comprehensive evaluation.
  • Time spent outside of sessions usually requires an additional four to seven hours to complete, and the client is not present during these services that require the psychologist’s time. This includes referral/records review/integration of client data, consultation with collateral contacts, research, sending rating scales, scoring tests, interpretation of tests and clinical data, integration of test data and clinical information, clinical decision making: diagnosis, treatment planning, generation and writing of the narrative summary, and the final psychological testing report.
  • Feedback Session: Two to three weeks after testing, we will meet to discuss your results, diagnostic impressions, and recommendations. At your feedback session, you will receive a summary report and, within two weeks, a comprehensive written report.

Scope of Services

My evaluations may include measures of intelligence, academic achievement, adaptive functioning, personality, and social, emotional, or behavioral functioning. Services can be provided in-person or via telehealth, and may involve interviews, personality inventories, rating scales, records review, research, and collaboration with collateral contacts and/or other professionals (with your written consent).

Neurodiversity-Affirming Collaborative Approach

I am committed to neurodiversity-affirming care. This means I respect and value neurodivergent differences such as autism, ADHD, and learning differences. My assessments focus on understanding your unique strengths and challenges, and my recommendations are designed to support your individual needs.

Fees and Payment

Dr. Newland accepts only private pay clients and does not work directly with insurance providers.

Rates: The initial evaluation session is billed at $200. After that, services are billed at $150 per hour, including test administration, scoring, interpretation, records review, collateral contacts, research, report writing, and feedback sessions. Any additional services needed, once testing is completed, such as completion of 504 forms, letters, or forms for ADA work accommodations, or letters for Emotional Support Animals, are billed at the hourly rate of $150.

Scheduling and Payment: Full payment is due at the time of service. A valid credit card (including HSA or FSA cards) is required to secure your first appointment, unless other arrangements are made prior to the first appointment. Reports are completed within two weeks of the feedback session. Upon request, I can offer flexible payment options by spreading out testing sessions, which allows you to divide the cost of testing into three or four installments.

The cost can be managed by spreading out appointment dates that are due at the time of the appointment/service. An example of this would be an evaluation costing $ 1,400: Intake session, $200; Testing session, $450; Interpretation/Report (completed by a psychologist without the client present and will be billed between the last testing session and the feedback session), $600; Feedback session, $150.

Superbill: Many insurance carriers do offer partial reimbursement for out-of-network services, so I encourage you to contact your health insurance provider to inquire about these potential benefits. Upon request, I will provide a superbill for you to submit to your insurance for out-of-network benefits.

Good Faith Estimate: Available upon request, in accordance with the No Surprises Act. For additional information, visit: https://www.cms.gov/medical-bill-rights.

If you have any questions about these policies or rates, please contact me. I am happy to discuss any aspect of the evaluation process and answer your questions at any time.
